Effect of Irrigation methods , Nutrient concentrations and Media on Salt Accumulation in Media , Growth and flowering of Easter Lilies

Abstract
This research was conducted to investigate the effects of irrigation methods, various media and nutrient concentrations on salt accumulation and changes of pH in root media. The plant growth and number of days required to flowering of two Easter lilies cv. Ace and Nellie White affected by salt accumulation were also investigated. Subirrigation with 1X fertilizer caused salt accumulation in top 2 §¯ of all root media, reaching 9 mmho/§¯ in EC. Subirrigation with 0.5X had the 3 mmho/§¯ in EC of top 2 §¯ of all root media. But, EC in 0 to 11 §¯ of all root media were less than 2 mmho/§¯. The pH in top 2 and bottom 3 §¯ of all media were lower than those of other layers of media. However, pH in all media were 6.5 to 7.8, which were too high. Subirrigation with 0.25X fertilizer had highest yield in dry weight and fresh weight followed by 0.5X subirrigation, 1X subirrigation, and 1X hand watering. ¢¥Ace¢¥ had more plant height, No. of flowers, and No. of leaves than ¢¥Nellie White¢¥. ¢¥Ace¢¥ required 5 more days than ¢¥Nellie White¢¥ to be flowering, which was derived from characteristics of two cultivars.
